Next time you visit Cincinnati and want to stay in a hip hotel, find you way to the 21c Museum Hotel. It’s the kind of hotel where that a museum lover would enjoy. There are art exhibits on the first two floors of the hotel to peruse at any time. The art varies from interesting art to WTF is that. Basically, like any museum. The staff at the front desk were a cast of characters. All friendly and full of personality. Everyone was ready to spring into action if needed. If I remember correctly, most of the staff that I spoke to was from the Cincy. The night I arrived at the 21c, I was exhausted at what felt like a long day of travel. All I wanted to do was order room service from the hotel’s restaurant, Metropole. I ordered the Roasted Aleppo Chicken with ramps, fava beans, thumbelina carrots, salsa verde with a glass of Pierre Delize Blanc de Blanc to wash it down. A simple yet comfort meal that would be my introduction to food in Cincy. I hit the foodie jackpot. The chicken was juicy and the sparkling wine from France was a hit on my palate. So far 21c had me sold. I have to also mention the wicked Breakfast Sandwich that I had at Metropole the next morning with eggs and bacon. Everything was so fresh. The restaurant makes it a point to work with sustainable farmers in the region. When I got tired from excursions during the trip, I enjoyed going back to the 21C to just chill. My room was totally cozy and peaceful. I took complete advantage of the big screen TV while laying the big fluffy bed. The mattress owned me and I loved every minute of it. There were plenty of cable channels to take advantage of with shows on demand. Who knew I would get so into the New Edition Story on BET? At the hotel are big yellow penguins that just kind of show up. There may be one in the elevator, by the front desk, or on your floor. If you want a penguin sent to your room, you can request one for a small fee. I had a penguin visit for the evening. I called him "Fernando" if only for one night. The hotel also offers workshops for artists and let’s not forget about the Drag Queen Brunch, okay! Feel free to bring your pet as long as it’s under 50 pounds. I saw the most adorable dog in the lobby for a few days that was having grand ‘ole time.
