Bronny James & Parker Whitfield: Love Game on the Bench

Well, Bronny James is single again — not that some of us even knew he was in a relationship.

Bronny had been dating Parker Whitfield, whom he met in high school, with the two going public around October 2024. Now it appears that young love has run its course, and allegedly Parker's mother, actress Salli Richardson-Whitfield, even threw a little Instagram shade Bronny's way. Oh, Mama had thoughts.

But here's mine: Baby Bron wasn't ready to settle down.

He's 21! Just because LeBron and Savannah have been together since they were practically babies doesn't mean their son is destined to follow the family romantic blueprint. Let that young man date, make some questionable choices, learn a few lessons and figure out who he is.

As for Parker? She'll be fine. In fact, I'm sure another NBA player will eventually slide into those DMs, although my psychic money is on an NFL player.Never hurts to switch teams. 

But Bronny? Sir, we need to discuss basketball. When your father is approximately 95 years old and can still walk onto a basketball court and remind everyone why he's one of the greatest to ever do it, perhaps this isn't the season to be worried about your love life.

With LeBron moving on to Philadelphia, Bronny finally has something he desperately needs: space. No Dad sitting nearby. No father-son storyline dominating every conversation. No wondering whether he's on the Lakers because of his talent or because his last name happens to be James.

And keeping it real? Yes, Bronny benefited tremendously from being LeBron James' son. We don't have to pretend nepotism suddenly stops existing because basketball is involved.

But being given an opportunity and figuring out what to do with it are two different things.

I don't see Bronny ever becoming LeBron 2.0 — and honestly, that's probably the best thing that could happen to him. Trying to duplicate his father's career would be an exhausting way to live.

I see him becoming something different. He'll hold his own on the court, but I predict his bigger success eventually comes outside of basketball. Business ventures. Investments. Gaming. A shoe or lifestyle collaboration. Broadcasting or NBA commentary could even be in the mix.

The James name is an empire, and Bronny may ultimately discover that his greatest talent isn't trying to become the next King James. It's figuring out how to turn being Bronny James into a business.

As for romance? Put the love game on the bench for a minute, baby.
