Popcorn Lover’s Day with Shosh & Lew

​The popcorn is popping, the bowls are overflowing, and Shosh is fully living her best snack life. Lew, however, has reached the point of the evening where he’s questioning why there are five bowls of popcorn and three more highland cows who also showed up for snacks.

But honestly… can you blame them? Popcorn has been winning hearts for thousands of years. Archaeologists have actually found popcorn kernels in caves that are over 5,000 years old, which means humans have been obsessed with this snack for a very long time.

And those tiny kernels? They’re little snack magicians. Each one can pop up to 40–50 times its original size, thanks to the water inside turning to steam and bursting the kernel open into fluffy goodness. Science… but delicious.
Americans eat about 15 billion quarts of popcorn every year, which is roughly 45 quarts per person. Honestly, Shosh alone might be responsible for a few of those.

There are even two types of popcorn shapes:
🍿 Snowflake (butterfly) – the fluffy movie theater kind
🍿 Mushroom – the round kind perfect for caramel corn
